We spent the afternoon climbing today in Big Cottonwood Canyon at Dogwood. Brayden, Jaxzen, Brookelle and the German kids, Max, Pauline, and Valentin all got a chance to try. Everyone climbed up the first, easier route, then Brayden, Max, and Valentin tried the more advanced route. The others probably would have tried the harder route, but we ran out of time. Just before we left, Pauline and Valentin decided to soak in the freezing river. I think they were just going to wade in the water a little bit, but Pauline slipped on a rock and ended up wet from head to toe. Valentin soon joined her. When we were crossing the river to head back home, Brookelle's new shoe slipped out of her hand and went for a ride down the river. She was devastated and tried to go after it, but we finally convinced her it was too dangerous to hop down the rocks after it. Valentin tried to rescue it for her, but the water carried it away too fast. Of course, we promised her new shoes.
